Honest Reflections from
Those Who Attended
These are the words of adults who came to our programmes with genuine questions and left with greater clarity. Not every experience is identical — and that's the point.

What People Have Shared
Sirivan Jaruwat
Phuket Town · Debt-to-Income Workshop
I'd been avoiding looking at my debt situation for two years. After just half a day, I had a clear number in front of me and an actual plan. The facilitator was patient and never made me feel embarrassed about where I was starting from.

Richard P.
British expat, Chalong · Resilience Program
As an expat, most financial advice I find assumes I understand the UK or US context. Kanya Thong is the first place I've found that actually engages with what it means to be financially secure while living in Thailand long-term. Six sessions well spent.

Nucharin Thongsuk
Rawai · Cooperative Housing Finance
I'd read about housing cooperatives but couldn't find anyone who could explain how they actually work in Thailand. The two-day programme gave me the clarity I needed. I came with questions and left with a much clearer picture, though I still have more research to do before deciding anything.

Wiroj Lapchareon
Kathu · Debt-to-Income Workshop
Simple, practical, and delivered without any sales pressure. I was half expecting someone to try and sell me something by the end, but the session was genuinely just about helping us understand our situation. I'll be attending the resilience programme next.

Margaret H.
Australian, Patong · Resilience Program
The psychological component of the programme surprised me — in a good way. I hadn't expected to be thinking about how stress affects financial decisions, but it turned out to be the most useful part for me personally. Thoughtful programme.

Pachara Suwanna
Thalang · Cooperative Housing Finance
The cooperative housing programme answered questions I didn't even know how to ask. The materials we received were thorough enough that I could go back and review sections later at home. I would have liked a bit more time on the financing structures specifically, but overall very worthwhile.

Participant Journeys in More Detail
Anong N., 52 — Debt-to-Income Workshop
Hotel operations manager · Phuket Town
The Situation
Anong had accumulated several small loans over the years — household appliances, a vehicle, credit card balances — and had a general sense she was overextended, but had never sat down to quantify it.
What the Workshop Provided
Using the workbook, Anong calculated her actual debt-to-income ratio for the first time and compared it to Thai banking benchmarks. She worked through three possible approaches to bringing the ratio down within 18 months.
The Outcome
A concrete prioritisation plan for debt reduction, and a clearer understanding of what she needed to avoid taking on. Anong later enrolled in the Financial Resilience Program to broaden her picture.
"The number was uncomfortable, but knowing it was better than guessing. That's what I needed."
James M., 58 — Financial Resilience Program
Retired teacher, British expat · Chalong
The Situation
James had retired to Phuket on a fixed pension from the UK. He was concerned about currency exposure, local insurance gaps, and what would happen to his finances if the exchange rate shifted significantly against him.
What the Programme Provided
Over six sessions, James worked through emergency planning frameworks adapted to the expat context, evaluated his existing insurance coverage, and stress-tested his budget against several adverse scenarios.
The Outcome
Clearer understanding of his actual exposure, one meaningful gap in insurance coverage identified, and a more structured emergency fund plan. James also mentioned feeling considerably less anxious about things he had previously avoided thinking about.
"The stress-testing session was confronting, but in a structured way. I left feeling like I had a handle on something I'd been trying not to look at."
